Optimising CMV prevention across transplant settings: from evidence to practice

5

Accredited (Credits: 1.5)
Free
Audio: English

Synopsis

This session on cytomegalovirus (CMV) provides clinical and emerging real-world evidence data on antiviral prevention of CMV. In addition, prophylaxis against CMV reactivation and disease in paediatric and adult patients after allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) and kidney transplantation will be discussed. The program covers CMV risk stratification in transplant medicine, advancing adult allo-HSCT outcomes, paediatric allo-HSCT prevention strategies, and redefining CMV prophylaxis in kidney transplant recipients. The panel discussion will focus on how to integrate treatment guidelines into real-world clinical decision-making. This activity is supported through a sponsorship from MSD.

Objectives

At the end of this session, the learners will be able to:

  • Evaluate the current approach to CMV management depending on risk profiles and levels of immunosuppression
  • Summarise the trends and evidence in HSCT and kidney transplantation CMV space for informed decision-making
  • Improve patient outcomes in the post-transplant setting
