Synopsis

This course provides a practical framework for managing menopause when symptoms, comorbidities and life circumstances intersect. Moving beyond symptom checklists, it introduces the Identify, Focus and Tailor approach to uncover the dominant driver behind a cascade of complaints and to define measurable, patient-defined goals. Through a complex clinical case, it covers diagnosis without unnecessary testing, transparent risk communication, and the selection of hormonal and non-hormonal therapies, including route, formulation and options after cancer. Grounded in evidence and patient-centred communication, participants will gain tools to support informed shared decision-making and improve quality of life in everyday practice.

This activity is supported by an independent support grant from Bayer

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be better prepared to:

  • Describe how menopause symptoms and individual circumstances can affect quality of life
  • Use patient-centred communication to identify individual needs, priorities, and goals
  • Support informed, shared decisions without overwhelming the patient
  • Integrate comorbidities, health history and life context into management
