Synopsis

Patients with diabetes have a significantly increased risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease complications and death. Recent randomized clinical trials have shown that newly available medications such as GLP-1 receptor analogues and SGLT2 inhibitors improve cardiovascular outcomes. Although tight glucose control has an overall modest impact, experts point out that managing hypertension, lipids, overweight, smoking and antiplatelet agents are effective clinical approaches to address cardiovascular risk in patients with diabetes. In this course, you will grasp the most important findings obtained in the various clinical trials and the most recent recommendations on cardiovascular risk management included in the 2022 guidelines of the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.
