Synopsis

This CME-accredited webinar explores the clinical relevance of cardiovascular inflammation in Middle Eastern populations with atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and heart failure. The session will examine the persistence of systemic inflammation despite standard care and the interpretation of inflammatory biomarkers such as hsCRP within the context of observational evidence. Drawing on findings from the INFLAMEAST cohorts, the webinar will explore the prevalence and clinical characteristics associated with residual systemic inflammation across ASCVD with CKD and heart failure populations, while considering regional factors such as diabetes, obesity, and earlier cardiovascular disease onset that may contribute to inflammatory burden.

This activity is supported by an independent support grant from Novo Nordisk

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be better prepared to:

  • Explain the biological and clinical relevance of systemic inflammation in established ASCVD and heart failure.
  • Interpret inflammatory biomarker findings, including hsCRP, within the context and limitations of observational cardiovascular research.
  • Evaluate how regional factors, including diabetes, obesity and earlier cardiovascular disease onset, may influence the inflammatory burden among Middle Eastern populations.
