Synopsis

In this course, you will discover why good brain health is not only desirable but essential for preventing dementia in an increasingly ageing population. We will discuss healthy brain ageing and the factors that shape it, from biology to the social environment, and you will learn how sleep, diet and lifestyle directly influence the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases. In addition, we will delve into what Alzheimer's disease really is, its clinical and social impact, and how neuroinflammation, together with the dual role of microglia and astrocytes, opens up new avenues of understanding beyond the classic focus on amyloid and tau. We will also address the current challenges in clinical practice in implementing effective preventive strategies and offer keys to acting from a multidimensional, population-based and evidence-based perspective. This training is essential for healthcare professionals who want to be at the forefront of cognitive decline prevention and understand how to optimise brain health today and in the future. This activity is supported by an independent support grant from NovoNordisk.
